  1. You are inspirational! This is what must be done all over our city to stop the mayor and his corporate privatizers from taking away our public schools. John Dewey is one of our great schools. I teach in an elementary school on the other side of Brooklyn so I can only be with you in spirit on Friday morning. Keep it up! United we can win!

  2. Well done! Keep up the great work. Here is a retrospective on what the 19 schools facing closure went through last year.

  3. Not to mention, John Dewey was an innovative theorist in his times, his philosophy on progressive education are my core beliefs in teaching students.

  4. These protests have been done, all over from the beginning of when the mayor started closing schools. I am from Canarsie H.S. - we protested, had the news channels there, had it in the Daily News, Post, local paper...but to no avail!! We tried to warn everyone that this was not going to stop. And it hasn't!!! 47 more schools slated to close, or "reconstruct" as the mayor says!! Once your school is on the "hit list"...you are a goner. WHAT A SHAME...ANOTHER GIANT GOING DOWN!! WHEN IS THIS UNION THAT WE PAY UNION DUES FOR GOING TO START STANDING UP FOR ITS MEMBERS!!! STOP CLOSING THE LARGE HIGH SCHOOLS!! SOUTH SHORE WENT DOWN THIS PAST JUNE.. We are being replaced by all of these smaller schools, with "new" staff. That is all that is being done, get rid of the veteran teachers and staff and replace with "newbee's" who cost half the money and have no experience. The students are still the same! Don't they see that, same performance. Just cheaper labor.
Why doen't the media see this!!!

Well, Good luck John Dewey and all of the other large high schools that are slated to close...it is just a process and YOU are now part of this madness, just like we are!! What a DAMN SHAME!
